What is Vintage?
A ‘Vintage’ is a database snapshot on seven fixed dates of a
year. For example, a March 2014 Vintage means a snapshot of the Prowess
TraX database as on 31 March 2014.
The contents of a Vintage are not changed once it is
created. Data are neither added nor deleted nor modified. The database
remains unchanged for all times to come.
In Prowess TraX, the following database Vintages will be made
available for every year:
June - as of 30 June
September - as of 30 September
October - as of 31 October
November - as of 20 November
December - as of 31 December
January - as of 31 January
March - as of 31 March
A Case is created necessarily using any one specific Vintage. A
Vintage cannot be changed midway in a case.
If the data for a company is partial (for example,
if the financial statements are entered but, the related party
transactions are not entered as of a Vintage it will remain so in
this Vintage for all times to come. The same would hold for even an
error. Completions/corrections could be made in subsequent Vintages.
A user may have created user-defined expressions in, say,
the Find comparables using the annual financial statements stage. Such
expressions can be imported from one case to another. Such user-defined
expressions may or may not work in other Vintages. User-defined
expressions are Vintage-specific.
