What is a Query?
A Query is a set of conditions that must be satisfied to find
companies in the Prowess TraX database. The Prowess TraX user-interface
provides facilities for the user to specify the conditions of Queries
and to submit these for execution.
Framing a query usually involves the following:
Selection of indicators or options
Specifying the range of values wherever applicable
Specifying the financial year or years on which the Query
is to be executed
Specifying the domain on which the Query is to be
executed. The domain is either all companies in the database or it is
sub-set of companies that have already been selected.
Once a Query is so framed, the user then submits it to TraX to
obtain the results. This submission of the Query to generate the results
is called execution of the Query.
A Query is a consumable which has to be purchased from
CMIE. Queries are purchased in batches of 500. Every time a Query is
executed it gets consumed.
The Prowess TraX application shows the balance
of unused Queries on the top-right corner of the screen. When a Query
is consumed, the outstanding balance of Queries reduces. The balance of
Queries can be raised by purchasing Queries.
